Many of our most downloaded books are related to crafts, hobbies, or collecting.   The last few weeks, there’s been much interest in Directions for making Poncetto lace (1917) by Theresa Rizzi. According to her slim instructional volume, the Italian Poncetto (or Puncetto Valsesiano ) was first made in the 7th century in Valsesia, Italy.

If you don’t follow us on twitter (do! @silibraries) you might have missed our  unicorn hunt.  OK, well, it was more of a “where’s Waldo” of unicorn hunts rather than a shoot-stuff-mount unicorn hunt…we would NEVER do that to unicorns. From Die Krone der kunstfertigen Frauen : Musterbuch a collection of lace-making patterns originally published in 1601 in Italian, this edition in German is from 1891.  Can you spot the unicorn?
